Food for Life
About 6,000 children work in slavery conditions inside the dump. Food for Life is our project which involves 80 families that these young and baby workers belong to: since June 2014 we have been handing out food for families’ main meals, so that children can go to school and give up forever with the work in the dump. Along with the program we have started a Rescue Center, where children can meet and receive the complete psychological assistance during their reinstatement in the community. Moreover, each year we launch a microcredit project for mothers, so that 10 of them can start small businesses and, therefore, take care and bring up their children in a more and more independent way.
Food for Life project was born thanks to a contest called “Nutriamo il futuro” (“Let’s feed the future”), in collaboration with Fondazione Mediolanum.
