I AM A KENYAN
Look at me
From head to toe
Turn around and look at me again
I am Kenyan
Child of the soil
Brought up by my father and mother
Educated in Kenya, land of education
Land of great heritage a splendor.
I am a child of beautiful Kenya the mother of us all
A child with no tribe, but a child
With firm root and a bright future.
My mother Kenya has provided for my future.
Beautiful forest, high mountain
Flowing rivers and plenty of food to eat
Why do you deny my right?
Why do you isolate me by calling me
Kikuyu, jaluo, kamba and so all
Why do isolate me?
I have a right to my mother inheritance
I have a aquestion to my uncles in high offices
If I come to you house will you regard me as your own?
If yes, I have a message for you
And ensure that when I come I will find
Kenya just as you found it or even better
I will speak fearlessly and without favor
I will not be shaken, nor mislead
From the truth that I know
Watch my lips and mark you
I AM A KENYAN
