HOW DISTANCE ADOPTION WORKS
You are going to receive all information about your child, his/her profile to know his/her story and a recent picture of him/her.
You will be updated, and you will be able to talk to him/her by Skype, thanks to our local staff’s support.
Moreover, once a year Alice for Children draws one of our Sponsors to allow him/her to fly to Nairobi as one of our association’s guests. S/he has the opportunity to meet his/her child and to see what we do there.
WHAT WE DO WITH YOUR DONATION
Distance adoption is a genuine and real help to give the hope of a better future to children living in the slums.
The donation consists of 30 euros a month. It is important for us to explain how we use your donation. Here is what we do:
- Primary education
Alice for Children supports three primary schools: one in Dandora, one in Korogocho and one at Kilimanjaro’s slopes. Here more than 2,000 children can study in a safe and protected environment. Then, Alice For Children manages two children homes and a Baby Care Center, which is one of the goals we have recently reached. Our Baby Care Center is a kindergarten built inside the slum, where parents can leave their babies until the end of their working day.
- Health assistance
Distance Adoption allows us to guarantee treatments and medical check-ups to our children, living in a world made of vulnerability, malnutrition and decay.
- Food supply
Your donation guarantees one hot meal a day to primary schools’ children and three meals a day to Baby Care Center’s children and to their families. Moreover, Alice for Children supports Food for Life project for 80 families living in the slums.

THE ENVIRONMENT
For 11 years Alice for Children has been working in Nairobi slums, where children are forced to work about 12 hours a day in open-air dump sites. They work in inhuman conditions, scavenging from the rubbish in their bare hands.
In this area of Africa, the emergency is permanent. Child mortality rate is high because of malnutrition, AIDS and lack of drinkable water. Today, thanks to distance adoptions and donations we can support about 2,500 children. But it is still not enough.
We need your support to keep on making our projects sustainable and to provide more children and teenagers with education, health assistance and food.
